Thank you for considering Southern Illinois University's Carbondale Campus. If we are new to you, or you are unfamiliar with the southern Illinois area, we invite you to look at our visitor information. If you would like to visit us, or attend one of our special events, we would welcome you with open arms.

Our University is one of the most diverse and affordable in the state of Illinois. We are located within a short drive of the Shawnee National Forest and have earned international acclaim as the second largest comprehensive university in Illinois. With over 22,000 students, we offer a big-school educational experience in a small town setting.

If you are interested in working on an undergraduate degree, our Office of Undergraduate Admissions has prepared information for the prospective undergraduate. This information includes the admission process; an on-line admission application; SIUC majors, specializations, and minors; financial aid opportunities including student employment; campus visit information; housing options; the undergraduate catalog and much more. Also, as a potential undergraduate you are no doubt aware that each degree program has a unique set of requirements. As such, we have included the current undergraduate catalog. For more information on becoming a part of our University, fill out our information request form.

Already have a bachelors degree and interested in further education? Our Graduate School has prepared general regulation and procedure information to assist you. This information includes the admission process, costs to attend, the graduate catalog and much more. For more information about our graduate studies, send e-mail to gradschl@siu.edu.

The Office of Distance Education offers courses to both degree seeking and non-degree students regardless of their location. To meet student needs for alternative learning methods, our Distance Education courses are offered in interactive video, print-based and web-based formats. Print-based (correspondence) and Web-based courses are offered by the Individualized Learning Program (ILP). Web-based courses and Two-Way Interactive Video courses are offered through the Office of Distance Education and adminstrated by the Division of Continuing Education. Visit the SIUConnected website for more information.

If you have decided to join our University and have already applied for admission, you will find our admission status link useful. Use it to find out if you have been "officially" admitted or to determine if you need to satisfy additional requirements for admittance.

After you have been admitted to SIUC, you will want to make housing arrangements. To make this process easier we have provided on-line housing information which includes policies, requirements and more.

Financial assistance is available to students who qualify. Last year, SIUC administered over $123 million dollars of assistance in the form of grants, scholarships, loans and student employment to more than 20,400 students. For more information, contact our Financial Aid Office.
